COE-21 International Symposium, MISASA-3
“Origin, Evolution and Dynamics of the Earth: a tribute to Prof. Eiji Ito”

We are pleased to announce the third COE-21 International Symposium at ISEI, “Origin, Evolution and Dynamics of the Earth: a tribute to Eiji Ito”, that will take place in Misasa, Western Japan, on 21-23 March, 2008.

Prof. Eiji Ito started his academic career in April, 1969 at Thermal Spring Research, which was the predecessor of the Institute for Study of the Earth’s Interior (ISEI), Okayama University. Throughout his career, he contributed a great deal of high-pressure Earth science research, and his word has taught us volumes about the structure, dynamics and evolution of the Earth. He will retire his professor position at the end of March, 2008. ISEI will hold an international symposium in honor of his great contribution to Earth and planetary science and high-pressure science and technology.

The total cost should not exceed 15,000 JPY. It will include main on-site costs:- a welcome reception, lunch on the 22nd and 23rd, a banquet, refreshments and an abstract volume.

Contributions at the symposium will consist of both oral presentations and posters. The deadline for submitting abstracts is February 15, 2008.
